FrequenTly Asked QuesTions

Is Chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest nondrug, noninvasive forms of health care available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small and are further minimized by a thorough history, exam and treatment plan. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

What if I don't want an adjustment? What if I don't care for an adjustment?

Your comfort and satisfaction are my top priorities. If you're uncomfortable with or simply prefer not to have a specific adjustment, that is your call because you're in complete control of your treatment. If you don't want an area adjusted then I won't adjust it. If you don't like the setup or delivery of an adjustment then I welcome your feedback and will work with you to explore alternative techniques or methods, such as using an activator or trying a different approach. Ultimately, my goal is for you to feel at ease and confident in the care you receive. Your preferences guide my treatment process, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience.

Can babies and children see a Chiropractor?

Yes, infants and children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and minor injuries from activities of daily living, as well as from participating in sports. Injuries such as these may cause many symptoms including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort. Chiropractic care is always adapted to the individual patient. In the case of children, it is very gentle.

Once I start going to a Chiropractor do I have to keep going forever?

After conducting a thorough examination and diagnosis, I will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan will include a recommended number of visits aimed at addressing your condition effectively. As the patient, you certainly don't have to agree with my plan and are able to come as often as you see benefit. After a treatment plan, there is no obligation to continue treatment beyond your plan. You have the freedom to decide whether to pursue further treatments, opt for wellness care, or discontinue visits altogether. I believe in empowering my patients to make informed choices about their health, and I will never pressure anyone into lifelong adjustments. Ultimately, your comfort and well-being are paramount, and you are in complete control of your treatment journey. You can choose to come for appointments as often or as infrequently as you wish.

What is the cracking sound?

Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which sometimes makes a popping sound, called a cavitation. The same thing occurs when you open a can of soda, pressure is released within the can as we open it and we hear the "crack" of the can. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. Even though we hear the cracking sounds often on social media, adjustments are still effective if there is no audible 'pop.'

Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor?

As portal entry healthcare providers,  a referral is usually not needed to see a chiropractor; however, your health plan may have specific referral requirements. You may want to contact your employer’s human resources department—or the insurance plan directly—to find out if there are referral requirements.
